Blotch Darkwater is a mighty makoragh leader, honcho of the Thrashfin Sharkzerkers. A skilled hunter of oceanic beasts, Blotch has slain some of the fiercest and most terrible monsters of the many seas. Alongside his frenzy of trained sharkhounds, Blotch is always on the hunt for new challenges. Blotch Darkwater by Battle Yak Miniatures is the Epic Hero of the Sharkzerkers range, sculpted to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the launch of Battle Yak Miniatures.

He stands on the deck of a broken boat riding a breaking wave, one foot up on the bench, his fishhook spear in his left hand and a grinning sharkhound braced on the waves beside him. One hero. One hound. One big stand.

This set includes the Blotch Darkwater modular sculpt, one Sharkhound sculpt, the Fishhook modular weapon (with standalone variant), and the multi-part sculpted character stand. We print all of it. About 68 mm from the soles to the top of the head crest, and about 95 mm tall overall standing on the boat. Single hero model. Both Tabletop and Display.

The Fishhook – Two Versions

Blotch's left forearm ends in a bracer with no hand. The fishhook comes two ways, and both are in the kit:

• Fishhook (modular) – the long hooked spear with rope, hanging fish, and twin chain hooks, gripped in Blotch's hand. The hand plugs into his left bracer. This is the version on the turntable
• Fishhook (standalone) – the same hook and shaft with no hand attached

The Sharkhound

A four-legged shark beast with a dorsal fin, a forked tail, a mouthful of teeth and its tongue hanging out. It stands on the waves at the back of the boat, beside Blotch. Separate sculpt, glued in place on the stand.

The Boat Stand

The character stand is a base topper and platform in four pieces: two halves of a wrecked boat on a crest of sharp, breaking waves (they join down the keel), the bench and cross-beam that sits on the deck, and the bowsprit spar that slots into the bow. Blotch stands on the deck and the bench; the Sharkhound stands on the waves. The stand covers about 85 x 93 mm on the table, and the bowsprit pushes the whole diorama to about 123 mm long.

Assembled on the boat stand with the fishhook and the Sharkhound, the diorama is about 95 mm tall, covers about 85 x 93 mm at the bottom, and is about 123 mm long including the bowsprit. Heroic scale. Models over 50 mm may be hollowed internally for print quality, reduced weight, and more affordable pricing.

Pro Tip: Paint Blotch, the hound, and the stand as separate pieces, then glue them down. Glue the two boat halves together first and fill the keel seam before priming. Keep the hide a cold grey-green to match the rest of the Sharkzerkers, and push white into the wave tips so the water reads from across the table.
